Ordinary

Before it was thrown
Before the pin was removed
He already ran
Faster than ever before
He knew the danger
Yet he could not spare a breath
To shout a warning
Safety was his own concern
Let someone else be
The glorious protagonist
No saving the day
For this ordinary man
He may be selfish
But he’ll be alive tonight
To hug his children
To tell his wife, “Hey, gorgeous.”
And then it thundered
But everyone was okay
All their eyes were drawn
To the man who saved the day
