Regret

The brilliant sun
In its fiery glory
With its golden light
Bore holes
Through the drapes
Through his fingers
Reminding him of the battle
The aftermath of dozens of cups
Bottles of what could only be
The sweetest honey
Or something greater
Leading him and his compatriots
Into pure moments of ecstasy
Then to the blackest
Thoughtless void
And now throbbing
Regret
