Deviation

Weary of their cursing
The road he treaded upon
Denial soothes the sting
For history’s fallen son
For shouldering the shame
Will not dillute their venom
Nor dampen ancient flames
Til he too becomes victim
So he preaches shameless falsehood
To the fledgling generations
Lesser evil turned greater good
A beautiful deviation
Though he knows these to be untrue
What else can a tired old man do?
